St. Louis Blues sign free-agent defenceman Brendan Bell

ST. LOUIS - Brendan Bell is on the move to St. Louis.

The free-agent defenceman signed a contract with the Blues on Friday, leaving his hometown Ottawa Senators after one season.

The 26-year-old appeared in 53 games for the Sens last year, recording 21 points (6-15) and 24 penalty minutes. He also spent time with AHL Binghamton.

In one 101 career NHL games for Toronto, Phoenix and Ottawa, Bell has seven goals and 28 points. He was a third round pick of the Maple Leafs in 2001.
